Small moments in Grade 1

First graders find joy in the writing process through writing their "Small Moments" stories. After reflecting on a special small moment in their life, first graders work to express how they felt in that moment through writing their own stories.

Grade 2 explores the Amazon

Second graders truly embody jungle researchers as they learn all about the Amazon Rainforest throughout the year. As they learn about different research methods, second graders delve deep into all the different animals and plants that live in the rainforest. The research project culminates in a "living museum" that families attend, where students sharpen their public-speaking skills and personify their chosen animal with speeches they've written.

Grade 3 uncovers ancient civilizations

It's all Greek (and Mesopotamian and Nubian) to third graders at CHS! Students research myths and legends from across the world in their ancient civilization unit, which culminates in their performance of Greek skits in the spring!

The CHS program helps students make cross-curricular connections and become intellectually skilled and self-empowered learners.
