Michael Hoe

Mike originally hails from sunny Los Angeles, California but moved east for college and has been in New England for 15 years.  After completing a B.S. in Neuroscience from Brown University, Mike thought he’d take a year off to teach before heading to medical school and landed a teaching fellowship at Noble and Greenough School in Dedham.  During that year, Mike fell in love with being an educator.  So much so, that he earned a M.Ed in 2015 from the Harvard Graduate School of Education where he had two specific focuses: ways to apply neuroscience research in the classroom with particular attention to adolescent brain development, and all things related to educational nonprofit leadership.  For the past eleven years, Mike has had numerous roles at Nobles including teaching upper school science, coaching (football, basketball, baseball, and golf), advising, writing curriculum, working as the Assistant Director of Residential Life in the boarding community, serving on various committees, and most recently, serving as Director of Academic Support to help students and families at Nobles strategize and find ways to thrive academically.  He also served as the NEASC Self-Study Coordinator for the re-accreditation process for Nobles.  Mike and his wife, Chrystal, had their daughter, Eliana, at CHS for Pre-K and K.  However, Mike recently took a position in California at his alma mater as the Director of Studies where he will be responsible for the implementation, documentation, supervision, and evaluation of the School’s academic program, services, and resources.  Though he will be in California, Mike and his family believe so much in CHS that he has enthusiastically agreed to serve on the Board of Trustees remotely as his way of giving back to the CHS community for all it has done in two short years for him and his family.
