2023 Theme - STEAM Around the World

STEAM activities challenge kids to expand their perspectives and to try and try again. We've developed the Micro STEAM camp for Kindergarten to Grade 2 students with the goal of hands-on engagement in the fields of science, technology, engineering, art and math. 

Calling all explorers, innovators, and creators to book their tickets and take a STEAM-inspired trip around the world! The mission is for campers to ask questions, make observations, and gather information about how to solve problems through the development of a new or improved tools.

Swim Option!  STEAM Campers may bring their bathing suits for an afternoon swim.  The pool will be supervised by our certified lifeguards.

2023 Theme - Food Science

Create, Explore, Build, and Predict!

CHS STEAM Camp introduces children to the fascinating areas of science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM). Our goal is to engage students in activities and challenges that show them just how fun and relevant STEAM is to their world!

Throughout "In the Kitchen" week, campers will develop critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication skills as they experiment with a variety of food types and ingredients! We will explore physical energy and chemical reactions. Enjoyable hands-on individual and peer projects will include math, tech games and edible art creations! While we are mainly using edible ingredients, we won't eat the results of every experiment.

A field trip to Drumlin Farm is also planned.

Learning & Leading is designed to create a stimulating learning opportunity for CHS Upper School students who are interested in social justice/advocacy work. Participants in the Learning & Leading program will ...

• strengthen essential academic skills
• learn fundamental concepts pertaining to democracy and civic engagement
• develop their own beliefs on identity and social justice issues, and
• learn potential strategies for agency on issues that are important to them.

Participants will leave the week with a broader understanding of civic engagement and democracy, have a deeper knowledge of what they believe about themselves and specific community issues, and know more about how to play an active role, both at CHS and in our larger community.

Please note that the Learning & Leading curriculum changes each year to connect to current events, so if your child has participated in the program in the past, s/he is more than welcome to attend this summer and for a new and different experience!
