How to Apply

  1. Parent/Guardian Interview

  4. Child Visit/Assessment - These assessments will be conducted virtually. 
  5. BAVE - Boston Area Video Assessment- for Pre-K and K applicants
  6. AISNE form, school release form, recent school reports
  7. Decisions sent on March 10, 2021 for applications completed by January 31, 2021.

Interviews are scheduled from September to February in the mornings on Mondays through Thursdays. This is a required part of the admission process. Our admission team conducts all interviews. All interviews will be conducted virtually. We encourage you to schedule your visit early and for both parents/guardians to be available at the same time (if applicable). You may schedule your interview in your Ravenna portal, or if you have trouble scheduling, please contact the Admissions Office to schedule your interview at 617-264-1342 or admissions@tchs.org.

CHS uses Ravenna Hub (https://www.ravenna-hub.com/login) for our application process. You may create an account and complete all application steps through this portal. The online Application for Admission form should be completed no later than January 15. It must be submitted before an admissions interview can be scheduled. The non-refundable application fee is $55. A family photo is optional and can be included with an application. After January 15, applications will be considered based on space availability. This is also a required part of the application process. Children applying for Beginners, Pre-K, Kindergarten and Grade 1 will participate in a Virtual Assessment. For Pre-K and Kindergarten applicants, families may use the Boston Area Video Assessment collaborative tool to submit the same video to multiple schools. Children applying for Grades 2 - 6 will visit in their current grade level for a zoom visit during which they participate in classroom activities and a one-on-one meeting with a member of our Support Team to go through the admission testing material. We will schedule these visits once we receive an application and we will notify you of the date(s).

Using the Ravenna Portal, you may send your child’s teacher this form to be completed and returned directly to Chestnut Hill or uploaded by the teacher through Ravenna. Please follow up to be sure that it is returned to the Admission Office by January 31. For Beginners applicants please use the PK-1 form if your child is in a school or daycare. REQUIRED FOR ALL APPLICANTS.

Please print or send the School Release Form within the Ravenna portal. It should be sent to your child’s current school, so that your child's current school records may be sent to us. Please follow up with them to confirm they have sent the records to the CHS Admission Office by January 31.

All decisions are sent out on March 10, 2021 in accordance with AISNE guidelines. 

As part of the admission process, we evaluate the information gathered from the parent/guardian meeting and student evaluation video/chat, as well as prior school records (if applicable), the AISNE evaluation form, and the family history form (part of the online application). We do not require recommendations but will place them in the applicant’s file if received. Our Admission Committee seeks to identify applicants for whom The Chestnut Hill School is the right fit both socially and academically. We are a school that lives its mission on a daily basis and look for families that will embrace our mission.

If your child is placed on the waitlist, this is considered an acceptance to the school, pending space. We require that Families return the reply card letting us know if they would like to remain on our waitlist. We have no way of knowing what movement (if any) there may be on the waitlist. Adjustments can be made as late as August if a space becomes available. Candidates on the waitlist are not in any specific order but rather make up a pool of qualified students. If your child is placed on the waitlist and you choose to apply again the following year, you must complete the entire admission process again. All applicants must complete the entire process each year they apply.
