CHSM

The Chestnut Hill School for Music (CHSM) is open to current CHS students and faculty, adult family members, alumni/ae and the general public. Students of all ages and levels are welcome: those who have never taken lessons and those who want to continue the joy of music making.

Lessons

Individual, semi-private and group lessons are offered in the following instruments; cello, clarinet, African drums, drums (jazz, Latin, rock), flute, guitar, oboe, piano, recorder, saxophone, trumpet, viola, violin, and voice.

Ensembles

String Ensemble The CHS String Ensemble consists of intermediate to advanced string players (violin, viola, and cello) who meet weekly to rehearse fun and challenging string orchestra repertoire. Placement is based on teacher recommendation and audition. New members are encouraged to begin at the beginning of each semester. If your player is interested, contact the String Lesson Coordinator to arrange an evaluation. Chamber Ensemble is based on interest. All skill levels will be accomodated. Other Ensembles Flute choir is based on interest.

Workshops

Parents and children of any age may come to many of these fun-filled workshops. Workshops may include, but are not limited to, Family African Drumming, Music Theory, Music Technology, and Musical Theatre. No experience is necessary, just a desire to learn.
