Excited by hands-on learning while exploring scientific resources from the New England Aquarium and inspired by rich children’s literature, Kindergarten made the tail of a blue whale. Pre-K, fascinated by the differences between baleen and toothed whales, fashioned the head of a humpback whale. Beginners created a baby orca whale using recycled newspapers and grocery bags. The paintings were influenced by the book “Whales” by Cynthia Rylant. “La Ballena” posters were joyfully created during Spanish Class and the images overhead were drawn during Technology class. The display also included a video featuring a song about whales sung in music class.
