Beginners through Grade 6 collaborated in the creation of "La Tienda de CHS" which went on display this week in the Community Meeting Room.
The store display was the culmination of a school-wide project in which students learned Spanish vocabulary associated with items found in a supermarket. Beginners through Grade 2 created fruits and vegetables while learning the Spanish vocabulary for their names, colors, sizes, quantities and places of origin. Grade 3 took the project one step further by designing their own labels and packaging for a variety of products. In addition, they calculated the weight of these items in grams and included an expiration date. Grade 4 added a list of ingredients to their labels for a variety of desserts and drinks. Grade 5 did all of this and more by adding slogans in Spanish for a variety of cleaning products, candy and other sweets. Lastly, Grade 6 provided all of this information and included nutritional values on their labels for all of their meat, fish, and dairy products.
