The following information is provided by CHS as an aid to families applying to secondary schools.
SECONDARY SCHOOL PLACEMENT PROCEDURES
September/October
- Dr. Blackburn visits all Secondary School Admission Officers.
- Parents schedule a meeting with Dr. Blackburn to discuss the next school placement. Practice interviews for parents and explanation of completing applications.
October/November
- Sixth graders and parents visit Secondary Schools
- Parents submit all forms (transcript requests and teacher recommendations) to sixth grade teachers. Register for the ISEE test.
December/January
- Dr. Blackburn writes supporting statements on behalf of each candidate
- Grade Six teachers write teacher recommendations
- Science teacher writes recommendations
- Student prepare applications and take ISEE test
Late January
- Transcripts and recommendation letters mailed by CHS to the Secondary Schools
February 1
- All applications and supporting materials due at the Secondary Schools
March 10
- Secondary School admission decision letters mailed to applicants
April 10
- Commitment is made to the school one chooses
The Independent Secondary School Entrance Exam (ISEE)
- Sixth graders may take the test in December or January. If your child took the ISEE test last spring, please be certain that six months elapse between tests.
- Please consult the ISEE guide book for test dates and registration deadlines.
- It is important that CHS receive a copy of the score report. The School’s Identification (score recipient) and location number is 222705
Recommendation and Transcript Forms
- Your child’s name must be on every form you submit to CHS.
- If the teacher recommendation from requires a parent signature to release information to another school, please sign it before you bring it to CHS.
- Please do not put stamps on any envelopes that you return to CHS, as we will mail everything in one envelope. Thank you for your cooperation.
