I've long settled on the idea that many great achievements result both from artistic vision and from scientific know-how. I'd argue that this is true not simply in technical fields such as mobile phone design, mathematical theory, and mechanical/aeronautical engineering, but also in more subjective ones such as painting, poetry, and pottery.

Great mathematicians are attuned to beautiful ideas no less than accomplished sculptors must understand the physics of clay. Similarly, effective teachers and successful parents seem to develop their expertise through a synthesis of art and science.  Do you have other examples of noteworthy accomplishment?  Here's one that I find quite unforgettable:
